A simple method for the separation and partial purification of aminoacyl-RNA synthetases (aminoacid-RNA ligases, EC class 6.1.1) specific for tryptophan, tyrosine, methionine, isoleucine, cysteine, valine and leucine from Escherichia coli is described.
