Based on frequently cited cutpoints, the sensitivity of the TUG was only 20% with a specificity of 94.6% and the sensitivity of the 8UG was 64% with a specificity of 75.7%. The TUG identified fallers at significantly different rates than the 8UG and the ABC (p < 0.05). For this reason, the 8UG is recommended as a more appropriate outcome measure for identifying fall risk in community-dwelling older adults.
