Instability of High-Order Optical Phase and Polarization Singularities in a Homogeneous Linear Medium

The development of the instability of beams of monochromatic radiation with high-order singularities in a homogeneous isotropic linear medium is analyzed. The results are compared with those for nonlinear media, and the possibility of experiment is discussed.
