Over recent years, significant progress has been made in the detection, measurement and application of biomarkers in both companion and farm animal medicine. This review article summarizes the commonly used biomarkers in dromedary camels that include the cardiac, bone, inflammation, transport, stress and pulmonary biomarkers. The review also focuses on the use of these compounds in camel medicine either in diseased or physiological states; and finally summarizes and reviews, to the possible extent, examples of the types of biomarkers used in dromedary camels.
