利用透射电镜和扫描电镜研究了越南微小Malomonas minuscula sp.nov.的二氧化硅鳞片形态。本种属于芒氏Malomonas mangofera复合体，其特征是盾状物上有小鳞片和大的多边形乳头，前缘下肋上有突起的宽臂和小乳头，后缘下肋的角度有一个小“窗口”。在越南中部和南部六个省的九个地方发现了微小Malomonas鳞片。综述了该新种的分布和生境条件。
