Family functions refer to a set of values practiced by the family members. This study aims to analyze the effect of family characteristics, family knowledge and participation in the Family Development Program on the functioning of families in Indonesia. This study used secondary data from the cross-sectional study “The 2019 Population, Family Planning and Family Development Program Accountability Performance Survey (SKAP)”. This study involved 69,662 families selected using a probability proportionate to size sampling, collected June-September 2019 across 34 provinces in Indonesia. The education level of the householder has the most significant impact on family functions practice among family characteristics variables (β = .106, p < .05). Family knowledge (β = .188, p < .05) and participation (β = .032, p < .05) in the Family Development Program has a significant positive effect on family functioning. These findings further reinforce the role of Family Development Program in helping families carry out their functions optimally.
