The Faraday effect has been investigated as well as the structure of these glasses was analyzed by Raman spectroscopy. It can observe that when the Na2O concentration increased from 7 to 18 mol%, the value of the Verdet constant decreased from 0.113 to 0.071 min/G.cm. This result can be interpreted as the following: when adding Na2O into the glass matrix, leads to the attendance of non-bridging oxygens (NBO).
