Lot-sizing policies for defective and deteriorating items with time-dependent demand and trade credit
This study investigates an inventory model with unreliable supply where each received lot may have random fraction of defective items with known distribution. Thus, item inspection becomes essential in all the situations, especially when the items are of deteriorating nature. Moreover, in today's competitive business world, organisations may use promotional tools in order to increase their sales. One such tool is permissible delay in payments where the buyer does not have to pay for the goods purchased until a prescribed period given by the supplier. For the case when both the demand and the price vary with time, we investigate the impact on the retailer's ordering policy for deteriorating items under permissible delay in payments. Numerical examples and sensitivity analysis are illustrated to provide some important managerial implications. Accounts of Chemical Research presents short, concise and critical articles offering easy-to-read overviews of basic research and applications in all areas of chemistry and biochemistry. These short reviews focus on research from the author’s own laboratory and are designed to teach the reader about a research project. In addition, Accounts of Chemical Research publishes commentaries that give an informed opinion on a current research problem. Special Issues online are devoted to a single topic of unusual activity and significance.
Accounts of Chemical Research replaces the traditional article abstract with an article "Conspectus." These entries synopsize the research affording the reader a closer look at the content and significance of an article. Through this provision of a more detailed description of the article contents, the Conspectus enhances the article's discoverability by search engines and the exposure for the research.
