O SENTIDO LIBERAL DA CONCEPÇÃO DE LIBERDADE NO ÂMBITO DO ABSOLUTISMO POLÍTICO DE HOBBES

The main purpose of this article is to examine the terms of freedom in Hobbes, using the sense of freedom, sometimes attributed to the way the philosopher sees its position on freedom, through the discussions of Quentin Skinner about the design "neo-Roman" of freedom or liberty republican. Based on this assumption, do you want to show how the modern conception of freedom is entirely dependent on the construction of the hobbesian "freedom negative", directly influenced by a political debate that occurred in England in the mid 17th century. On this basis, the heart of the discussions that will be undertaken in this article concerns the critique hobbesian freedom republican as a prerequisite to demonstrate the development of the modern conception of freedom. Once examined this relationship is, therefore, possible to highlight the important aspects of liberalism in the political argument of Hobbes.
