The relationship between marital satisfaction of patients with multiple sclerosis (the patients’ spouses) with the interpersonal dependency and personality type

Abstract The study was to determine the share of interpersonal dependency and personality type in the marital satisfaction of the spouses of the patients with MS. A sample of 220 participants in the standard model were asked to answer ENRICH-47, IDI, and HEXACO-PI-R questionnaires and the data were submitted to multiple regression analysis. Findings showed a significant (p<0.01) negative correlation between interpersonal dependency and emotionality and marital satisfaction. Also, honesty and conscientiousness positively (p ≤ 0.01) correlated with marital satisfaction. Since interpersonal dependency and personality type were effective in MS, emotional empowerment, adaptation training and independence seem necessary.
