Flow-injection chemiluminescent determination of phenothiazines in pharmaceutical preparations
A flow-injection configuration for the chemiluminescent (CL) determination of chlorpromazine, trimeprazine and trifluoperazine is proposed. The procedure is based on the oxidation of the drugs by Fe(III) perchlorate. The Fe(II) formed is measured by its catalytic effect on the CL luminol reaction in the absence of added oxidant. Linear calibration graphs were obtained between 2.0×10−6 and 1.0×10−4 M for all three drugs. The applicability of the method to the determination of these phenothiazines was demonstrated by investigating the effect of potential interferences and by analysing commercial pharmaceutical preparations.
