Determination of some of the lectins? immunohistochemistry profile of the dog testis and epididymis
1 testis and epididymis 2 Abstract: Lectins are substances composed of proteins or glycoproteins that 3 specifically bond to carbohydrates on the cell surfaces or inside the cell. Lectins are used 4 to identify the carbohydrate types in cellular membrane or cytoplasm. The aim of the 5 study was to identify the location and distribution of the four types of lectins PNA (Peanut 6 agglutininArachis hypogea), WGA (Wheatgerm AgglutininTriticum vulgaris), Con A 7 (Conconavalin A-Canavalia ensiformis) and SBA (Soybean Agglutinin-Glycine max) in 8 dog testes and epididymites. Based on the study data, we can suggest that the 13 analysis of the results could be beneficial for cell and tissue culture techniques, as well as 14 the stem cell research, sperm maturation, canine capacitation and decapacitation. 15 16
