The device's performance at a theoretical cutting speed of 305 m min<sup>−1</sup> (1000 ft min<sup>−1</sup>) compares favourably with other quick-stop devices. When the quick-stop is actuated at a typical speed and feed the separation distance is 2.2% of the feed rate.
