The cost of generation of real power at different generating units can be minimized for any given load demand. Apart from cost, environmental emission is also to be considered as growing emissions all over the world are creating a major havoc to living environment. So the idea of balanced economic and emission dispatch makes it a multi objective optimization problem to be solved.
