Le management des filiales bancaires étrangères en Afrique à l’épreuve de la culture locale : l’influence des directeurs adjoints autochtones

While the literature abounds on the glocalization of foreign multinational firms’ affiliates, studies on the role of autochthone deputy manager in the management of these affiliated companies appear to be scarce. The purpose of this paper is to contribute to knowledge on affiliate management of foreign banks in Africa in front of local culture. The used data come from four affiliated banks located in Cameroon. They result from a process of multiangulation marked by the websites consultation and interviews with employees of these banks. The results of the analysis suggest that the autochthone deputy managers, as collaborators of general managers (expatriates and limited in terms of contextual knowledge), have a great influence allowing them to introduce the African mentality in the management of the company.
