Injuries related to the aspects a shift working — a comparison of different offshore shift arrangement. <em>Journal of Occupational Accidents</em>, 12: 167–176.</p><p>Rogaland Research Institute's data-base “Injuries in Offshore Drilling”, which includes information regarding 3200 injuries in the period from 1980 to 1987, have been used in the analysis of the daily development in injury rate as a function of different types of shift arrangements.</p><p>The study shows that the day to day change in injury rate during an offshore period is related to both crew change procedures and to aspects of biological rhythms.</p><p>The choice of shift arrangement is not the most important matter as regards the overall safety level. Differences in safety policy and activity level between companies practicing the different shift arrangements are factors of greater importance.
