Preparation and Catalytic Properties of ZnO-CeO2-TiO2 Composite
ZnO-CeO2-TiO2 composite oxide was rapidly synthesized by the combustion method using ascorbic acid as combustion agent. The synthesized sample was characterized by XRD, FI-IR, UV-Vis, BET, and SEM. The morphologies and the ultraviolet absorption properties of ZnO-CeO2-TiO2 composite oxide were optimized by changing molar ratio of burning agent, zinc, titanium and cerium ions. The composite oxide exhibits stronger ultraviolet absorption and better photocatalytic properties when mole ratios of burning agent, zinc, titanium, and cerium ions are 8:4:0.25:1. The reason can be attributed to together ZnO, TiO2 with CeO2 degraded and decolorized the methylene blue. The composite oxide shows better decolorizing effect when the molar ratio of burning agent, zinc, titanium, and cerium ions is 8:1:0.25:1. The reason can be attributed to the XRD pattern peak of the composite is completely the same as CeO2, but the composite has better crystalline, so the properties of composite is superior to CeO2.
