A sample of 123 parents, ranging the age between 30 to 70, of the students studying at primary grade of a private school was selected for the study using the simple random and convenient sampling techniques. The study focused on the identifying the parents’ perceptions of their involvement in children’s education. T-test and ANOVA were used to analyze inferential statistics of quantitative data. Findings show that parents have a positive attitude towards parental involvement and they are generally aware of the academic and psychological aspects of education. They have a good relation with the teachers and they get involved in their children’s English language education directly and indirectly. Findings also indicated that such demographic characteristics as gender, age, occupation or level of education, generally, make no significant difference on parents’ perceptions about parental involvement. Based on the findings of the study, it is recommended among others that the parents should pay the special attention to their kids at home for better performance. 摘要

本研究旨在探讨尼泊尔父母对父母参与英语学习的看法,并探讨父母参与程度与父母性别、教育背景、英语熟练程度等变量之间的关系。本研究采用简单随机、方便抽样的方法,选取了123名年龄在30 ~ 70岁的私立学校小学一年级学生家长进行调查。本研究的重点是确定父母对他们参与儿童教育的看法。定量资料的推断统计量采用t检验和方差分析。调查结果显示,家长对家长参与的态度是积极的,他们普遍意识到教育的学术和心理方面。他们与老师有着良好的关系,他们直接或间接地参与到孩子的英语教育中。调查结果还表明,性别、年龄、职业或受教育程度等人口统计学特征一般对父母对父母参与的看法没有显著差异。根据这项研究的结果,建议父母在家里对孩子给予特别的关注,以获得更好的表现。强化环境对儿童起着至关重要的作用。
