A phase conjugation efficiency higher than 90% was achieved. It was found that, apart from the stimulated Brillouin scattering (STBS) component, the scattered beam also contained a second component without a frequency shift. Their ratio depended on the geometry used to couple the pump beam into the nonlinear medium and its intensity.
