After several similar cases were reported in the United Kingdom and the United States of America, the World Health Organization recognized this new syndrome on May 15, 2020 and released its case definition. Cases have now emerged in adult patients as well. Physicians need to stay vigilant about this syndrome in adults to promptly diagnose and intervene.
