We present a convergence layer protocol enabling the multipoint communication service (MCS) protocol to run over the multipoint transport protocol. This protocol structure makes the MCS protocol execute on peer to peer transport protocol and multicast transport protocol at the same time. For doing this, the convergence layer determines whether the peer MCU is multicast capable during the connection phase. If the distant MCUs reject the request of the local MCU, the connection is not multicast capable. If the MCUs corresponds to the successful case, the MCUs will use multicast to the transfer channel data.
