Workshop on Software Safety-Summary of the '94 CMBS Syposium's Software Safety Workshop

Abstract: This paper presents a summary of the 1994 IEEE Symposium on Computer-Based Medical Systems' Software Safety Workshop. The focus of these workshops is to facilitate the use and growth of software safety techniques. The software safety field is relatively new (roughly 15 years old in the U.S.); therefore, engineers and scientists are constantly working on new ideas and techniques for developing safety-critical software systems. Unfortunately, safety-critical techniques are not finding there way into industry as fast as some need or desire. This paper (and the software safety workshops) are one means for trying to achieve these goals.
