Based on the transmission characteristics of the transient voltage in the cable, this paper proposes a method for detecting the cable insulation state. By establishing the cable distributed parameter model, the relationship between the cable transfer function and the insulation parameters is theoretically deduced. A simulation test platform for cable insulation testing was built based on PSCAD, and the aging of the cable insulation was simulated by changing the thickness of the cable insulation layer and the relative permittivity.
