The attitude in this study included interest, perception towards science and motivation. The study was carried out in Johor Bahru, Johor. The study adopted quantitative descriptive research designs and questionnaires were used in the study. A total of 370 respondents constituted the sample of the study, which included Form 2 lower secondary students from Johor Bahru. Data was analysed to obtain frequency, mean and standard deviation. The results revealed that laboratory activity, curiosity to discovery science and science as a tool to understand the world is able to improve science learning. As a conclusion, interest especially created by laboratory activity, perception of student when they are curios to discovery science and motivation factor when students know that science as a tool to understand the world are able to improve students science learning in lower secondary schools in Johor Bahru. The implication was that school teachers could prepare more laboratory activities in science lesson. They also can stimulate students’ curiosity to discovery science and related science knowledge to the world so that students are interested and motivated to learn science. 摘要

本研究的目的是调查新山初中学生对科学的态度。本研究的态度包括兴趣、对科学的认知和动机。这项研究是在柔佛州的新山进行的。本研究采用定量描述性研究设计,采用问卷调查法。共有370名受访者构成了研究样本,其中包括来自新山的中二低年级学生。对数据进行分析,得到频率、平均值和标准差。研究结果表明,实验室活动、对发现科学的好奇心以及将科学作为认识世界的工具能够促进科学学习。综上所述,实验室活动所产生的兴趣、学生对发现科学的好奇心以及当学生知道科学是了解世界的工具时的动机因素,都能够改善新山初中学生的科学学习。这意味着学校教师可以在科学课上准备更多的实验活动。还能激发学生发现科学和对世界相关科学知识的好奇心,使学生产生学习科学的兴趣和动力。今后对这一课题的研究将有助于更深入地了解学生个人因素与科学成就之间的关系。
