There were a total of 18 participants in the study. The analysis and interpretation were based on the procedures of grounded theory.</p><p><strong>Results and conclusion: </strong>The results of the study show that young adults with a brother or sister with profound intellectual and multiple disabilities have some difficulties in establishing relationships with their peers, especially those more intimate such as friendships or romantic endeavors.
