Venous blood drawn into a syringe was transferred into test tubes with a zero-to-45-minute delay. The transfer was done sequentially in two positions with the syringe and the needle adaptor end (1) heading downwards and (2) heading upwards. Haemoglobin levels gradually increased over time in position 1 transfer while they gradually decreased in position 2.
