This journal is published in German for The German Economic Association (Verein für Socialpolitik). A sister publication to The German Economic Review, it covers the whole field of economics and neighbouring disciplines and in particular includes business theory. Die Perspektiven der Wirtschaftspolitik schließen im Bereich der wirtschaftswissenschaftlichen Fachzeitschriften eine Lüncke, indem die Inhalte zwar hauptsächlich von Wissenschaftlern stammen, aber nicht primär für Wissenschaftler gedacht sind. Während eine typische wissenschaftliche Zeitschrift Artikel veröffentlicht, die nur Spezialisten verstehen können, richten sich die Perspektiven der Wirtschaftspolitik an Nicht-Spezialisten, z. B. an nicht einschlägig tätige Forscher.
