Hidden Sadness Detection: Differences between Men and Women

Abstract

Emotion and micro expression detection is widely applied and its precision highly needed, more and more. In this paper we are dealing with questions such as the difference in emotion expression between genders and age groups, as well as the precision of micro expression detection, providing a new database of spontaneous and honest micro expressions. Difficulty in predicting and recognizing real emotions, combined with hiding and suppressing them calls for detailed analysis of the topic and providing better test and train sets as well as higher precision in its detection. What emotions are women more likely to show and hide, as well as males, is tightly connected with the precise detection of the micro expressions.
