Abstract

A comparison of two mathematical models of decomposition of the total power loss in three-phase four-wire systems is made. The paper considers a five-component model used in the Fluke 437–II Power Quality Monitor - energy loss calculator, and an alternative four-component model based on modern power theory. The comparison was performed using the developed meter of total power loss components in practical conditions. Based on the results of monitoring the electrical network of 0.4 kV, the advantages and disadvantages of each model and their prospects for use in the Smart Grid were determined.
