Based on the features of the DCS with references to the periodic test events caused by human errors, the paper comes up with feasible methods to simplify the periodic test process and to minimize human intervention other than unavoidable manipulations during start-up and end-up. Abstract

This paper illustrates the classification and restriction of periodic test, and gathers statistics about abnormal incident occurred during plant periodic test activities, reaches a conclusion on the impact to the test of human errors. This paper also makes a description of the features of digital control system’s functionalities.
