The present article deals with the basic functions, data and interfaces included in the management node software, which manages various network elements of the SI2000 product line. It also presents an information model, basic architectural and functional principles, which have been or will be taken into consideration in integrating the network element manager level with higher levels, namely with the network and service levels and indirectly also with the business level. The principles of information flow from the management node to the higher levels: collecting, filtering, correlating and transferring are also mentioned. Also discussed is upgrading the existing architectural concept to the architecture of a distributed component model, which is, in our judgement, an appropriate solution for interconnectivity among levels and within the network element manager level itself. The selected architectural concept also enables elegant upgrading of the functionality for the management of the next generation networks (NGN).","PeriodicalId":205662,"journal":{"name":"EUROCON'2001.
