Abstract
In this paper a modified Ω′ metric, depending on signal to noise ratio (SNR), is proposed. This metric is more suitable for choosing of quadratic permutation polynomial (QPP) interleavers, because it is closer to the upper bound of frame error rate (FER). The minimizing of this metric leads to the better choice of the polynomial from the error rate point of view, between an interleaver with maximum-spread and one with the best classical Ω′ metric. The simulations for two lengths of interleaver and two component codes confirm this metric.
