Abstract
PSS/NETOMAC is an advanced electromagnetic and electromechanical transient analysis tool. In order to convert power grid data from PSD-BPA to PSS/NETOMAC, this paper first compares the power flow and transient analysis mathematical models between PSD-BPA and PSS/NETOMAC. The power flow models include AC buses, transmission lines and transformers. The transient analysis models include synchronous generator, excitation systems, power system stabilizers (PSS) and governor systems. Based on model comparison, a data conversion program has been developed to convert data from BPA to NETOMAC. Two test systems are used to verify the data conversion. NETOMAC and BPA can achieve the same power flow computation results. In terms of transient simulation, there exists slight difference between NETOMAC and BPA.
