Abstract

With the help of bandwidth potential analysis, the influence of the ground plane size on the achievable impedance bandwidth of LTE antenna is comprehensively studied. Various different ground plane sizes that can cover almost all the current portable devices such as mobile phone, PAD, tablet and notebook computer are considered. The variation trend between the ground plane size and the antenna bandwidth potential clearly demonstrates how the ground plane size affects the performance of the LTE antenna. The conclusion drawn in this work is confirmed by a real LTE antenna design and the LTE antenna designs reported in the literature.
