Abstract

A Russian geographer outlines several principal directions involving the application of remote sensing technologies to research on mountain systems in the Lake Baykal region of East Siberia. These include remote sensing applications involving: temporal comparison of images from different times; landscape forecasting and paleoland-scape reconstruction; determination of present-day dynamics; and computer-aided image processing.
