Abstract

Web services continue to gain an increased popularity in the Information and Telecommunication sector. However, despite the recent advancements in mobile devices and wireless technology, direct implementation of SOAP-based Web Services on mobile devices is still a challenge due to the fact that mobile devices are still resources-constrained compared to stationary dedicated servers and workstations by their limited processing power, limited memory as well as limited bandwidth and intermittent nature of wireless connectivity. This paper proposes a lightweight framework for hosting and consuming Web services on mobile devices while considering their natural limitations and constraints.
