Abstract
Ultrasonic phantoms are often used in the diagnostic medical field and their development is very concerned with the quality of images acquired by them. The aim of this work was to promote a quantitative study of image pattern from ultrasonic phantoms produced by three manufacturing procedures (A, B, C). To that purpose, the influence of different distances between pixels in obtaining basic texture parameters (energy, contrast, entropy, homogeneity, correlation) obtained by the gray-level co-occurrence matrix (GLCM) was evaluated. Furthermore, an evaluation of image histograms and those texture parameters was conducted. The results suggested that within the same phantom manufacturing procedure it is expected to obtain, both visually and statistically, images with the same texture pattern and that in methods B and C, the texture pattern is similar and different form method A. Those results are in consistence with the visual likeness appearance of their images.
