Abstract

Wireless sensor networks are characterized by the low energy of its elements and thus efficient protocols are always needed for better optimization. Many protocols were proposed using a hierarchical structure of cluster heads to route data from regular sensors to the base station. In this paper, a modified version of MR-LEACH protocol is proposed based on simulated annealing meta-heuristics (SA). A comparison of SA with peer protocols such as HEED is presented. Simulation results show that SA holds farther in terms of first dead node and residual energy.
