Abstract

Nonvolatile rewritable phase change materials are ideal for post-fabrication trimming of photonic integrated circuits by locally tuning the waveguide effective index. Using electrically configurable phase shifters based on Sb2Se3, we demonstrate devices with <0.3 dB insertion loss and “active” trimming in both phase and amplitude.
