Abstract
The key characteristic features of such pan-European wireless communication standards as GSM (cellular systems), DECT (cordless telephony), TETRA (trunking), ERMES (paging), TFTS (air-plane systems), HIPERLAN (wireless LANs), are described. The main applications for each standard are indicated and the current market situation corresponding to their stage of deployment is discussed.
