Abstract
This paper examines the throughput performance of multiuser Internet of Things (IoT) relay networks in the presence of transceiver hardware impairments, where K IoT users communicate with a destination via a simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT) enabled relay. In particular, we exploit both amplify-and-forward and decode-and-forward protocols along with time switching and power splitting schemes at the SWIPT-enabled relay node. Under the considered system setup, we analytically derive the throughput expressions by i) examining the outage probability under delay-limited transmission mode, and ii) examining the ergodic capacity under delay-tolerant transmission mode, over Nakagami-m fading. The numerical and simulation studies verify our theoretical findings and provide several observations into the system’s throughput performance for various involved system/channel parameters.
