Abstract

An engineer typically uses many tools in the course of performing a harmonic study of a power system. These tools consist primarily of computer programs available commercially or custom designed. The programs often have M e r e n t user interfaces, operate on different types of computers, under different operating systems, and utilize incompatible input and output data formats. The engineer must not only deal with the engineering problem at hand, but also a systems integration and data conversion task that may be just as time consuming as the engineering task.
