Abstract
ABSTRACT:A literature review indicated that personality instruments available in India were either outdated or not available in Hindi, India’s national language. Mental health awareness has been rapidly growing in India. A personality instrument that captures India’s culture and tradition would be highly beneficial. The concept of Adler’s lifestyle in Individual Psychology is congruent with cultural traits and concepts for Indians. The purpose of this research was to determine the validity and reliability of the Hindi translation of the BASIS-A psycho-metric properties with an Indian population. Participants were 117 students from two universities in India. The findings of this pilot study provided supporting evidence that the BASIS-A Hindi Version is an appropriate inventory for the Indian population.
