Abstract
The aim of this paper is to emphasize the student participation in constructing and deconstructing the meaning of their youth. It focuses on the disputes between them and the university authorities in regard of social representations of young people in higher education, and underlines the process whereby the students disengaged from the institution, during the 20th and 21st centuries.
