Autobiografieanalyse und dokumentarische Methode am Beispiel der Wirtschaftselite

Abstract

Leseprobe ----- Zusammenfassung Autobiografien sind ein traditionsreiches und auch prominentes Format offentlicher Selbstthematisierung, Selbstdarstellung und -inszenierung. Fur die soziologische Forschung sind Autobiografien ein attraktiver Gegenstand, weil wir daruber immer auch etwas uber eine jeweilige Gesellschaft, ein Milieu und ihre Belange erfahren. In dem Beitrag wird autobiografisches Schreiben als Kommunikationsformat konzeptualisiert. Zugleich wird gezeigt, wie es mit der dokumentarischen Methode der Interpretation gelingen kann, solche Texte zu analysieren. Der Blick ist in der dokumentarischen Methode auf den Herstellungsprozess sozialer Wirklichkeit gerichtet, zum einen auf die Art und Weise, wie im autobiografischen Schreiben lebensgeschichtliches Material kommuniziert wird, zum anderen, wie diese Selbstthematisierungen anschlussfahig sind an das jeweilige gesellschaftliche resp. kollektive Wissen. An einem Forschungsbeispiel werden sowohl methodologische Uberlegungen als auch die methodischen Schritte anwendungsbezogen erlautert. Das Forschungsbeispiel bezieht sich auf aktuelle Autobiografien der Wirtschaftselite. Within sociological research they are considered interesting research ‚objects‘ insofar as we also learn something about a particular society, milieu and their issues. In this article, autobiographical writing is conceptualized as a communicative format. In addition, it is demonstrated how such a documentary method can be applied to successfully analyse texts. The documentary method is focused on the construction of social reality – on the one hand focussing on how autobiographical writing can be used to communicate biographical material about one’s life and on the other hand how these self-narratives are connected to social respective collective knowledge. Here, methodological reflections and methodical steps are discussed in connection with a research project that considers the autobiographies of the business elite.
