Abstract

In this paper, a liquid metal based polarization reconfigurable antenna on an AMC surface is proposed. The main body of the antenna is a pair of crossed-dipoles with equal-length arms, and four polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) tubes filled with liquid metal columns of constant length are loaded on the surface of the arms. By moving the liquid metal columns, the equivalent length of the dipoles can be changed. Therefore, the self-phases of the two orthogonal dipoles can be adjusted, leading to the reconfigurable polarization.
