Membandingkan pembelajaran matematika materi sudut dengan menggunakan pendekatan matematika realistik dan pendekatan konvensional dilihat dari prestasi belajar dan karakter mandiri siswa merupakan tujuan dari penelitian ini. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif jenis penelitian quasi experimental design dalam penelitian ini menggunakan dua kelas, yaitu kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol.Tes prestasi belajar dan lembar penilaian karakter mandiri adalah instrumen yang digunakan peneliti untuk mengumpulkan data. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa siswa yang diberi perlakuan dengan menggunakan pendekatan matematika realistik memiliki nilai rata-rata lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan nilai rata-rata siswa yang tidak diberi perlakuan. Nilai rata-rata prestasi belajar kelas eksperimen adalah 88,16 sedangkan pada kelas kontrol adalah 74,16. Sedangkan nilai rata-rata pada karakter mandiri siswa pada kelas eksperimen 24,44 sedangkan kelas kontrol 18,32. Berdasarkan uji hipotesis prestasi belajar nilai t hitung 4,428> t tabel 2,06 dan hipotesis karakter mandiri nilai t hitung 4,428 > t tabel 2,06 7,905 dalam taraf 5%. Maka Ha diterima dan Ho ditolak, dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh pendekatan matematika realistik terhadap prestasi belajar dan karakter mandiri siswa di SD IT Al-Madinah. Kata kunci : Matematika Realistik, Prestasi Belajar, Karakter Mandiri Abstract: This study discusses the effect of Realistic Mathematics Education approach on students’ learning achievement and independent character. Comparing mathematical learning onangle concept using Realistic Mathematics Education approaches and conventional approaches viewed from students’ learning achievement and independent character of students is the goal of the study. The research uses a quantitative method with quasi experimental design typeby using two classes namely the experimental class and the control class. The instruments used to collect the data are learning achievement test and independent character assessment sheets. The results of the study show that students who were given treatment using a realistic mathematical approach had a higher average score than the average score of students who were not treated. The average score of the learning achievement in experimental class is 88.16 while in the control class is 74.16. While the average score of the students’ independent character in the experimental class is 24.44 while in the control class is 18.32. Based on the hypothesis testing of learning achievement score, the value of t calc 4.428 is greater than t crit 2,06 and the hypothesis testing of the independent character score, the values t calc 7.905 is greater than t crit 2.06 in level 5%. Then Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. It can be concluded that there is an effect of the Realistic Mathematics Education approach on students’ learning achievement and the independent character in SD IT Al-Madinah.
