The methodology includes a literature review stage about the structuring and functioning of material libraries and the relevance of these collections in the teaching and practice of design; a case report stage, presenting the process of creating the academic material library; and stages of analysis and synthesis of results. The results discussion shows the effectiveness of the guidelines defined for cataloging, which organizes and differentiates the samples, in addition to enabling the expansion and diversification of the collection. Abstract
This research addresses the aspects that define the creation of material libraries and presents the process for implementing an academic material library in the Institute of Arts and Design at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora.
