The awakening of the community to environmental, cultural and economic sustainability is among the results obtained that allow the autonomy of the group after the project and its strengthening. The lack of identity in local products is evident in the cultural and historical circuits of Minas Gerais, lacking products that apply local iconography. The extension project carried out at the School of Design at the State University of Minas Gerais (UEMG) in 2017 promoted the collection of textile waste, followed by cataloging, allowing a mapping of disposal by garment factories in Belo Horizonte, mobilizing city halls to the correct management of this solid waste. The waste served as input for the execution of the project with embroiderers from a community in the city of Mariana (MG), using the upcycling technique, which consists of using textile waste and trimmings to create new fashion products. The project was strengthened by developing a brand with a visual identity, a brand manual to be applied to products.

Its strengthening depends on strategies that range from valuing the raw material extracted on Brazilian soil, inserting design as a vector of identity in products and government actions that are directed towards small local Productive Arrangements (APLs). The set of activities progressively follows one another and is articulated from the inputs or raw materials, considering their extraction and processing, to the final product, taking into account its distribution and commercialization. The extraction of stones in Brazil takes place through small companies, mostly in a rudimentary way in the mines located in the states of Minas Gerais, Rio Grande do Sul, Bahia, Goiás, Pará and Tocantins, from which a large quantity and variety of gems come out. Approximately 80%, by volume of gem production, is destined for export, both in the raw state and as an object of collection and polished. The figures show an increase in the export of rough diamonds, rough precious stones and precious metal products for the industry, while the export of jewelery and jewelery made of precious metals showed a decrease. Faced with the questions found, a discussion about the role of design as a vector for the appreciation of raw materials and Brazilian design is necessary. Through research both in the literature and in jewelry sector bodies and associations, the article seeks a review of geographic identifications in the Brazilian gemstone sector that result in an understanding of the importance of valuing the locality of design products.

In the face of global warming, research on carbon removal to mitigate the effects of climate change has been carried out. The use of constructed wetlands for wastewater treatment is known, however the quantity of studies about carbon sequestration of this system is still limited. Thus, the systematic and literature review aimed to expose the characteristics of constructed wetlands in relation to greenhouse gas emissions. The bases used were Scopus, Springer and Google Schoolar and the selected terms were related to constructed wetlands and GHG. It was concluded that the horizontal subsurface flow CWs has the potential to become a carbon sink, due to the carbon retained in the plants, and may emit less N2O than the vertical subsurface flow CW; about the emission of CH4, it is important to know the species of plant adopted due to its influence on methane emissions.

The research is characterized as exploratory and applied and aims to present the use of upcycling for the development of belly dancing costumes. As a theoretical review, it presents sustainability in fashion,Upcycling as an alternative for the reuse of discarded products and Costume Design in Belly Dance. The applied methodology unfolded through a bibliographic review and application of design tools, investing in the verification of techniques and materials suitable for the reuse of discarded party dresses. The main results refer to. development of a collection of belly dance costumes made from discarded party dresses, for a fashion show at the Shimmie Festival in São Paulo.

Green hydrogen has presented a prominent position in the current global energy transition framework because it has the potential to be used as a feedstock, a fuel or a carrier and storage of clean energy to balance electricity supply and demand. However, a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of green hydrogen is needed in order to measure the potential reductions in environmental impacts of large-scale implementation compared to existing technologies. Thus, this paper applies a systematic review with a bibliometric approach of studies on LCA applied to green hydrogen. The results show that studies on the subject are very current and present several practical applications, which are limited by data availability and information generalizations.

The present work aims to identify the main barriers to the adoption of sustainable housing in Brazil. The survey is based on the Survey method. Data collection was performed based on a questionnaire, structured with a seven-point semantic differential scale and 42 questions. It was applied via the internet. Multivariate statistical analyzes of the factor analysis data were performed, with the aid of the SPSS software.

The objective of this work is to compare two methods of application of structural loads for a Single Family Residential Building a) conventional masonry; b) EPS (Expanded Polystyrene) block, where the Eberick V10 software was used to launch the structural projects. According to Krüger and Silva (2019), it was developed for structural design in reinforced concrete, including the launching of the structure, analysis, design and detailing. After dimensioning and analyzing the structural design of conventional masonry with a wall load of 1900 kgf/m³, with the copy, it replaced the wall loads to 400 kgf/m³ corresponding to the specific weight of the EPS block. With the comparative results of the structural design of conventional masonry and the EPS block, it is identified that the vertical load on the foundation reached a good reduction in relation to the whole of the single-family residential building. But the weight of the reinforcements and the moments on the beams showed little difference, even so the structural design of the EPS block stood out in relation to conventional masonry, reducing the amount of load and reinforcement, making a more economical and viable construction.

Sustainable development has been discussed over the years in several areas, mainly due to the impact caused on the environment by human activities. In the urban environment, sustainability is related to the characteristics of the neighborhoods, impacting on the satisfaction of residents. This study aims to analyze, in the Brazilian context, the performance perceptions of the surroundings of the residents, based on characteristics of the neighborhood, the neighborhood and the city. An online questionnaire was applied to 279 individuals, and descriptive and multivariate analyzes were developed. The results indicated the reliability of the analyzed aspects and bring reflections on the main aspects to be observed in the planning of sustainable neighborhoods and cities.

This article shows teaching, research and extension actions focused on the use of the material library. The main goal is to promote the dissemination of knowledge about sustainability in projects, having as a starting point the material selection process. This paper presents a materioteca with a new concept, where besides material samples and technical information, it presents a complete report on the economic, social and environmental sustainability of each material (ESA). Complementary extension actions include the development of comics, videos, models and prototypes. The initial results of this research have shown that it is possible to provide designers with an analysis of the relative sustainability of each material compared to similar ones, providing a very relevant set of design information.
