Abstract
Analog and digital subsystems of payload camera electronics typically require low noise, low voltage power supplies. Commercially available options for space grade DC-DC converters operating in input range of 28–42V have limited features and performance in terms of EMI, PARD (Periodic and Random Deviation), output voltage lines, power, and efficiency. To enhance the power supply performance in payloads, an indigenous 24W isolated space qualified DC-DC converter with planar magnetics has been realized as a Hybrid Micro Circuit. Weight of the converter realized is 110 grams' and efficiency up to 80% across all loading conditions has been achieved. Design of converter incorporates critical safety features like inrush current limiter, over current and over voltage protection, which are required for high-reliability space borne applications. HMC has also successfully passed EMI tests as per MIL-STD-461E standards. This paper discusses the converter's technical aspects and challenges for realization along with achieved performance and comparison with existing space grade converters.
